The Golden Joystick rewards are now in and believe it or not, Fortnite won game of the year which many I’m sure expected, but many disagree with this choice and think titles such as Red Dead Redemption 2 and God of War possibly more deserving of this title. I don’t disagree that Fortnite blew up in popularity to immense levels, but when it comes to depth and gameplay it is lacking in comparison. RDR2 did however win the critics choice award.
Subnautica took best PC title and rightly so making it out of early access into a full release
It isn’t all doom and gloom as Subnautica, an underwater survival game with crafting and a whole ocean to explore, took best PC game. Subnautica is one of the rare titles that originally released as an early access title but actually made it to a full release. A nice change from what we usually see in today’s early access titles.
Most wanted game went to Cyberpunk 2077 from studio CD Projekt Red who also brought us the much loved Witcher RPG series.
One game I have a lot of love for but didn’t expect to see on the list was World of Tanks taking the Still playing award. World of Tanks also known as WOT got a new engine and a total graphics overhaul this year. It does have some strong competition with War Thunder on the scene so we will have to wait and see how they keep up.
