The Logitech G430 surround sound headset brings high quality 7.1 audio, a cool look styled in blue and is comfortable to wear for long periods. The sound quality is so good that you will be able to hear, and locate people creeping up on you without seeing them. This will give you a huge advantage in first person shooters such as Counter Strike Global Offensive, Battlefield, Call of Duty etc.
However, it wasn’t all a good experience. The G430’s suffers with a serious design issue as the braided cable is prone to fraying. One minute everything will be fine then the next you will have lost sound in one ear. You can usually get a few more weeks by bending the cable until the sound comes back but this is only a temporary fix. It will also speed up complete loss of sound in one ear. This is surprising because the G430 has a braided cable, which often helps prevent frayed wires. It wasn’t a one off problem either, I thought so much of the headset I went and brought a second pair. It was about 6 months and I had the exact same issue.
The design is pretty cool mainly because of the blue ear cups, braided cables and accents. The plastic feels rather cheap and it isn’t very durable when compared to other headsets. It is important to consider that this is a budget headset. It is one of the cheapest surround sound headsets from a reputable brand.
The Logitech G430 is a good headset. It has top quality 7.1 surround sound audio, in line volume controls and washable ear cups. It is such a shame that the issues surrounding the wires outweighs all of the positives. I cannot recommend a headset with a catastrophic problem when there are so many others in the same price range.
